Oh my goodness.  What an honor to have placed in the I Heart Faces contest this week!  There were so many beautiful entries!  I loved my image… but I’m a little biased of that sweet little boy ;-) .  If you didn’t get to see it, it is here on my slices of life post.  If you haven’t checked out I Heart Faces, then get over there!  SO many awesome photography tips and ideas… it is such an inspiring site!!  Thank you, Amy and Angie!  And thank you, Carissa Gallo, for being the guest judge!!  Congratulations to all the winners — the entries were so amazing… gorgeous.  Lifestyle photography is too fun ;-) .

Speaking of lifestyle photography, I spent the weekend taking lots of photos of my kids — everyday kind of stuff.  Here are just a few pieces of our weekend… Obviously the highlight was that my daughter got her cast taken off her arm!  Yahoo!!  And apparently our oldest son wasn’t around very much because he is not in many of the images… poor middle kid… :-(

It is too much fun keeping my camera by my side ALL day long with my family and shooting everything that made me smile.  WAY too much fun.  Like I could do it everyday.  And that would be the only thing I would do.  No laundry, no dishes, just shooting and laughing and loving it all.  So I guess its a little unrealistic to think I can spend everyday like I did last Saturday.  Boo.  But I do want to try and do it at least once a month, and hopefully spend a few hours with other families capturing the same moments for them.  This is a little Saturday morning moment.  Love that the light hit his one little dimple just so (and helps me ignore all the clutter in back.. ugh.. we’re packing, so its ok ;-) …)… and that Duckie is on his lap.  Sweet, sweet boy.

Any minute now it is going to warm up… and stay that way.  I noticed that Chicago, IL and Wilmington, DE are both much warmer today than we are in the Central Valley.  Now that is just weird.  My cuties aren’t complaining in these images, but in other shots and between shots, they were cold.  And hungry.  And tired. ;-)  Good thing sometimes the camera just brings out the goodness of their hearts, going along with Mom’s strange plans and requests to play board games outside and look at each other and actually smile… I know they really did have fun, though, even if it was for a few brief moments.  Someday when its warmer, we’re going to make a whole family date day of playing board games outside while having a picnic.  Can’t wait. ;-)

Sun flare can make for some AMAZING photography images.  I have had fun playing around with sunlight and the affects it can make on an image, but I still have so much to learn and practice — which makes me excited!  Love experimenting with my camera ;-) .  This week’s I Heart Faces sun flare theme gave me an excuse to get out and do that!  I have one of my favorite photos ever that I took about 9 years ago of my daughter — it was taken with film, and it is of her dancing in our backyard.  Then I had no idea about sun flare or how to use it to my benefit, but I was completely giddy when I got my prints back from that roll and found the gorgeous photo of her holding her sweet little tutu and this perfect sun flare appearing next to her face!  I will have to post it sometime… but for now, I’m sharing this one.  Same sweet girl, but a little older… We played around with the sunlight this weekend and this is our favorite from our little shoot — the flare is subtle, but pretty just the same ;-) .

    This is such a sweet photo. Very pretty subtle flare too. I love that there’s so much to learn about photography. I’ll never get bored with this hobby!
