I love Christmas cards.  One of the only times we seem to send personal snail mail anymore.  I simply find it delightful to open cards from all my friends and family at Christmastime!  I start thinking about what I want to do with my family Christmas cards in about June… I have my idea cooking for this year, but haven’t done anything about it yet…  but I have been working on some just for you!! ;-)   Here are some of the cards I will be offering this year (you can go to the Life Reflections by Tangie Facebook fan page to see them a little more closely, and while you’re there, become a fan ;-) !).  And there are many to choose from, since I just love Christmas cards so :) .  Cards are sold in packs of 25, envelopes included, for $35 per set.  You can click on sessions & prints for more information about cards.

I know, it hasn’t really cooled off much and it doesn’t feel like Christmas is anywhere around the corner, but in order to help you have fantastic Christmas photos and cards, I am already a-plannin’! ;-)   I will be posting some Christmas cards that you can choose from here very soon (details on cards and pricing can be found by clicking on sessions & prints and going down to the card information), and fall family sessions make for gorgeous Christmas family photos!  If you contact me anytime during the month of September to schedule a shoot,  you will receive a discount on your session fee, 10% off of your Christmas card order, and a free 8X10!

Please e-mail me at tangie@lifereflectionsbytangie.com, send me a message on Facebook (if you don’t “like” the Life Reflections by Tangie page yet, I’m missing you!!  you can click on the Facebook button at the top right corner to do so!), or call to book your session!  Here is an image from a fall session last year that made for a darling Christmas card!

Happy weekend!!!

i heart faces : beach fun

August 24, 2010

I was so excited to see this week’s theme.  I have what I think is my all time favorite photo, and it is of my 2 kiddos on the beach.  It is an old photo… so old I was still shooting film…  This one was taken on black and white film so I scanned it in to put it here.  I got several great shots in a series that day on Lake Michigan (funny to me that my favorite beach photo is from Lake Michigan, even though we now live in California and have visited many beaches…), and they just make me all giddy inside everytime I look at them ;-) … except that our youngest little guy wasn’t here yet!!  I really want to re-create this with all 3 of our sweeties someday…

Who doesn’t have fun on the beach??  All the other entries are sure to bring warm memories of beach trips… please go see at least a few at I Heart Faces!

At I Heart Faces (a fabulous blog, btw) this week, the theme is “Over Your Head.”  I wanted to try a shoot with balloons since I had seen so many cute photos of kids running with bunch of balloons or people standing in a field with a single, colorful balloon.  So we gave one to my sweet neighbor girl, tied it on tight, and waited to see what she would do with it.  She came up with this pose all on her own, and I giggle everytime I look at it!  She did not want to part with the balloon either, so lesson learned — either save the balloon for the very last shots in a session, or have something even better to exchange for the balloon, like say a big, sticky, red lollipop ;-) .

There are always amazing weekly entries at I Heart Faces, so be sure to go check them out!

The word summer carries so many memories for people… swimming pools, vacations, days of doing whatever we want… Summer for me as a kid was spending hours in my room reading the pile of books I got to check out at the library, which is not the norm for most people, but my daughter seems to have taken on that trait as well… ;-)   And summer also means family vacation to me — my sisters and I were blessed with the fact that almost every summer we got to take a week or so and travel to whatever destination my parents dreamed up, and we still laugh about the stories and photos from those days in our orange VW van (with the huge rocks piled at our feet on the way home… that is a long story for later) and our pop-up camper, seeing so many things all over the US.  Whatever summer memories you cherish, I hope you are making many new ones this summer and savoring each moment… because summer is only a few short weeks and is disappearing fast…

I was so excited to find this today… I have been drooling over Florabella Collection’s actions and textures for quite awhile… they are just so dreamy and add a gorgeous element to photos.   I especially like them with photos of children — you can see Shana Rae’s work at  Florabella Collection.  Shana is amazingly talented not only in creating her textures and actions, but also with her gorgeous photography.  Today through her blog, I was introduced to Skye Hardwick and I was immediately smitten.  She not only does incredible children’s photography, but offers help to other children’s photographers with her extremely informative Workshop Workbook!  How I would love to have that in my hands!!  And they are both working together on a giveaway!!  You can find out about both sets of out-of-this-world prizes at the Florabella Collection blog and the Soulographer blog.  Seriously.  If you are a children’s photographer, you DO NOT want to miss out.

Here is a shot from one of my favorite children sessions awhile back.  And speaking of photographing children, I need to get my children out for a shoot here pretty soon.  They probably think I have forgotten about them… no, really they are HOPING I forgot about them.  Forgot about photographing them, that is… ;-)

This is the other quite handsome brother from the post I made the other day about a family shoot I was able to do with my friend.  I’m sure he will be making up amazing lyrics like his older brother in the very near future.  His mom needs to write a book.  Not only because her kids are so cute and say hilarious things, but also because she is an amazing writer.  Check out her blog, Ostriches Look Funny.  You will be hooked.

Just wanted to share some happy Saturday sunshine.  Isn’t she precious?

I keep telling my friend, the mom of this stinkin’ handsome little guy, that her son is just so smart.  That is why he says the things he says and makes up the songs he makes up.  His imagination is incredible… really… you should hear his lyrics.  And I think this photo helps prove my point — can you not see in that expression that he is wise beyond his years??

I have more of his family (he has a brother just as adorable as he is) to share soon, but I had to post this little goody.  I wish I could hear what was going on in his head during this moment… probably something like, “Why in the world is that lady constantly sticking that big black thing as big as her head in my face?  Will someone give me the keys?  I’m outta here.”

I met the lovely Miss A several months ago when her brand new baby brother joined her family.  I was taken by her sweet, sweet family — they were so laid back, even while we were trying to get in shots of their new baby and their 2 other children, all under the age of 5 ;-) !  Miss A reflects her whole family with her smarts and her cuteness!!  This time when I got to be with her family, it was all about her birthday celebration!  I believe her mom missed her calling as a party coordinator, because this was the mac-daddy of all 5 year old birthday parties!!  A snow cone machine, popcorn popper, hot dog roaster, ginormous blow-up waterslide,  candy shoppe, and tons of friends to enjoy them with… what a lucky girl!!!  Did I mention the candy shoppe??  Tons of pixie sticks, gumballs, salt water taffy, gummy worms, Pop Rocks… seriously, it looked like parties I had dreams about when I was a kid ;-) .  Or maybe that was yesterday.

Thank you so much, Miss A and family, for letting me be a part of your FUN celebration!!  Miss A, you are so blessed to have a wonderful family who loves you so much and knows how to throw one marvelous party!
