oh so silly! {i heart faces}
January 31, 2012
My poor children. Many a Saturday morning I wake up excited for my plan of trying a new setting and new ideas with my camera on my children. I pull out outfits for them while singing and smiling and dreaming of the fun in store for the day. And then they realize what I am doing. And the groaning and crying begins. I remind them how it always turns out to be way more fun than they think it is going to be and that if they are good, maybe I’ll have a special treat waiting for them. They reluctantly get in the car and go along with my shananigans, and I love them for it
… though I’m not sure they would say the same! This shoot was a short and sweet one, their favorite kind, and we let off a little steam and got a little crazy. And sometimes that is just my favorite.

donut date {lifestyle downers grove photographer}
January 19, 2012
Since it is freezing and snowy here at our new home, people aren’t too excited about doing outdoor photo sessions right now. Unlike our old home in warm California where I could shoot year round. And there were mountains. And non-stop sun. Yes, I am missing that right now… though I do love it here
. I am just a little cold… SO, I finally have some time to go through some of our own family photos that have been sitting on my computer untouched for months… and I came across these from a little donut date after a soccer game for our little guy. He earned this trip as a bribe from his dad. It is so funny how we teach our kids to not kick or hit anyone or anything and be nice and polite and sweet, and then when they get on the soccer field, we yell, “KICK THE BALL!! GET IN THERE! BE AGGRESSIVE!!” No wonder little J just kept giving us a confused look as he skipped across the gym floor following his teammates… I love him and his precious heart
. Since he was having a hard time getting his head in the game, his dad told him if he kicked the ball 5 times, he could go get donuts after the game. That’s all it took. After each kick, he looked at us and hollered out the number of kicks he had accomplished so far. It didn’t matter that he kicked the ball towards the opponent’s goal, or that he kicked it straight into the wall. He focused on that ball and he kicked it. And we were so proud.

cute little K {downers grove il child photographer}
December 1, 2011
Little K Man was sure full of energy on the day of our shoot. So we walked around the pond, found sticks, chased bugs, jumped through bubbles, slid down the big red slide, and even got snuggles from Grandma. So, that sounds like a great day to me! And I would definitely need some nuggets and a nap after all that. For sure.
What is with those dimples and eyelashes?? Look out world.

The faces are great, and the photo is awesome!
These are the best kinds of pictures, when they can be themselves, and a part of their personalities shines through.
