christmas card time! {downers grove christmas card portraits}

September 29, 2011

I have some lovely Christmas card designs just waiting to be filled with your family’s gorgeous photos!  Here are most of the cards I am offering this year.  If you are looking for something a little different, let me know and I’ll see what we can come up with for you!  Most of these cards are 5X7 flat cards, and all are printed on excellent quality, beautiful linen paper.  In order to get your Christmas cards in time to send them off before the holidays, you will want to schedule your session for a date no later than November 16.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have or to book a session at

This is a fun luxe card that has a pretty die cut pattern on the end.  It folds like the 2nd image and presents as a gorgeous card!

These cards are cut as a circle with a hole in the top so they can be hung as ornaments.  A card that your friends and family can use as a decoration!  Brilliant.

Light is so amazing to me.  I feel like I never stop learning about what it does for an image… how it adds depth, glow, softness, emotion… So, I am very excited to check out all the entries this week at I Heart Faces for the touch of sun theme!  Such inspiration!

In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.  ~Aaron Rose

making excuses {downers grove child photographer} Image

making excuses {downers grove child photographer}

September 13, 2011

I love having an excuse to do something fun and creative.  Not that I couldn’t just do it without an excuse, but you know, sometimes I feel a little guilty doing things I enjoy creatively just for fun or just for me when there are 329 other things that always NEED to be done… So when I have a reason to go play, it makes it even more fun, right?  Like doing our Christmas card every year.  We HAVE to have a Christmas card, so I NEED to take the time to make them, right??  I love coming up with an idea, taking hours to get the right image (not literally hours, but my kids think so…), creating the card, seeing it in print, and sharing it through the mail with friends and family.  Moving was a great excuse for me to get my kids in front of the camera and think of something interesting for a new address announcement.  I like what we got ;-).

And speaking of Christmas cards, I not only love to do our family card, but I would LOVE to help your family have beautiful cards, too!  Let me know if you would like to schedule a family session so we can create lovely cards for you to send to friends and family this holiday season!  There are some spots open during September and October for sessions.  I will be posting card options for this year soon!

In the CRAZINESS of moving, I realized I never blogged about this beautiful senior!  Gasp!!  This was such a fun shoot — she had her boyfriend come along, which was awesome, because he can make her smile like I definitely can not… ;-).  Plus, we got some super cute shots of them together… and they are just so very cute together ;-).  Gillian, you are GORGEOUS, and you have some of THE most amazing blue eyes.  I cannot wait to see where your incredible, creative mind takes you, because you are already such a talented photographer and artist.

And… my favorite of the day….
