I love this age. Discovering so many new things, testing everything to see how it works (including Mom & Dad
), developing their sweet little language that even if you can’t understand it all sounds completely cute… This little sweetheart radiates joy, and I love this photo of her blowing on the wildflower. She was probably waiting for it to lose its petals and watch them go flying in the breeze, as I’m sure she’s done many times with those fluffy dandelions, but even though these tiny wildflower petals weren’t going anywhere, she looked so precious trying!!
So many talented photographers with beautiful flower and face photos at I Heart Faces!

So, I drafted this post last weekend for Mother’s Day, but I couldn’t get our scanner to work so that I could post this sweet photo of my mom… got it now, so I am posting it a week late anyway…
There is just something about the comfort of Mom. I remember, long after I had moved out of my parent’s home, that everytime I walked through that front door, a feeling of warmth and stability just rushed over me. True, some of it was coming from the house that I grew up in, and of course also from seeing my dad, but that hug from Mom could just melt away every fear, worry, and sadness I was feeling, no matter how old I was. Sitting at my mom’s funeral dinner just a little over a year ago, it suddenly dawned on me that I would never experience that again. It hit me like ice water dumped from a huge cooler on my head… shocking my system even further. I treasure those memories of just seeing her smile as I walked through the door, and pray that as my children grow and face all kind of different hurts or trials that my hugs will do the same for them… wash it all away.
This is a photo of my mom and I celebrating my 2nd birthday. Don’t you just wish you could jump into a photo sometimes??

Thank you so much for your kind words on my I Heart Faces entry! They were truly appreciated.
I just spent some time on your blog and I was struck by the authenticity of your photos. I feel like I am looking at real moments…not just stages pictures. I LOVE that!

Today I got to do a mini photoshoot with one of my daughter’s besties. And I happen to think her mom is pretty great, too
! I love my job, but how much more fun is it when I get to hang out with friends, make them do silly things, and go crazy with my passion all at the same time?? SUPER fun!! I had to apologize, because I made them walk all around Old Town, and it was getting quite warm… But I forget what time it is when I am having so much fun. Can’t help it.
I hope they find it was worth it when they see how gorgeous (of course) Miss J looks in all her photos! I picked out just one of my favorites to put up today, but more to come soon…

I have been dying to take photos in front of these orange trees. When I have driven by other orange groves lately, and I have seen that they have been harvested of their bright, juicy fruit, I have thought, “OH! I’m sure I missed out on that fabulous photo opp I have had in my head for months!!” But these trees have kept their fruit for a long time… and there is still LOTS of bright, beautiful orange yumminess on these trees!! Thank goodness for me and my photo I have had in the great photo ideas box in my brain (which is constantly in work mode, I might add)! Although the photo in my head includes my WHOLE family, these will do for now (though these 3 people are really, really gorgeous all by themselves
)… I had to atleast get some before even these oranges were gone… Hopefully the full idea will come to fruition soon!!

love this! It looks like she is wishing on it like birthday candles!
how cute is that!
And the flowered dress, to boot! Every mother remembers that stage when children can’t blow properly, as they more “ffff” at the object…your image has captured it to perfection!
