My husband, Ben, and I love the country. Before we moved to sunny Cali, we lived in an old 1930′s farmhouse in Illinois. It was on just about 3 acres, which was perfect — not too much to keep up with, but plenty of room for the youngin’s to play and the dogs to run. We even had a couple of sheep, just to “baaa” at, and for the kids to feed. It was so incredibly peaceful, and being mostly introverted, I enjoyed just being there, at home. The house was falling apart in areas, but it was just so… homey. And full of character. Swimming pool blue walls in the kitchen, pumpkin in the living room… not bright colors, but the kind that you just want to breathe in. Very comforting.
Travelling out to my friends’ parents home on Sunday reminded me how much I miss being out in the open, seeing unbroken green for miles. Their ranch was just gorgeous with incredible views… as my friend drove me around on his father’s “Gator,” I could picture so many photo ideas that my head was spinning!! After they had enough of me snapping away, we finally got to enjoy the smell we had been inhaling all day as Grandpa had been barbequing! And it was GOOD.
The grandkids get to spend many weekends at the ranch, playing with the horses and exploring, and spending time with their sweet and wonderfully kind grandparents. You all are tremendously blessed to have such a beautiful family — inside and out!! Thank you for the delicious meal, and for allowing me to be part of your evening and capture this time in your lives!
Love this one of the kids just playing around up on the hill. I will have more for you to see soon!
