Talk about little girls who have some personality… these two cuties give my boys a run for their money!!  Their brand new little brother has built-in entertainment for years to come!  And boy, do they love that new little man.  Here is a peek at a shot of just the sisters, but more including the newest member of the family are coming soon!

I adore a stunning, emotional black and white image.  Of course, color is beautiful, but there is something about just the perfect black and white that seems to tell even more of a story than the bright, cheery colors can tell.  It has the ability to stir up more inside of the beholder.  This image is from a trip we made to one of my husband’s absolute favorite places ever : Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  In fact, our youngest is named after this town ;-) !  We drove out to a gorgeous lake on this day, but as soon as we shed our clothes to jump in and swim (except for the youngest and I because it was COLD!!!), the sky darkened and it was obvious a storm was coming.  This was caught just in the last few moments before we decided we should make our move to safe, dry ground.  It is one of my favorites from the whole trip — I love how it almost appears they are walking on water!

Be sure and visit I Heart Faces – there are hundreds of moving black and white images by so many talented photographers that will inspire you, touch you, and even make you giggle!!

We made a trip to the thrift store today to look for an interesting old chair or anything else we couldn’t live without, but came home with these beauties. My daughter is a lover of books, new and old, and I LOVE that!! I was drawn to the Reader’s Digest Best Loved Books because they reminded me of all the Reader’s Digest classics my mom and dad had on their bookshelf. Funny how books can bring so much nostalgia. Nancy Drew is one of my daughter’s favs, and I knew these other classics would make her smile with delight. And, our sweet youngest guy was with us — he has been obsessed with Bibles lately (LOVE that, too!!!), and found a little New Testament… AND it was even his favorite color!!! Score!!

I started praying for this little girl long before I met her.  Long before her siblings and parents brought her home.  And I was so excited to spend some time with her!  We got to have a few brief conversations ;-) , and I found out she definitely loves red balloons!  Even though I was snapping her sweet, adorable face long after dinner time, she kept on smiling (its possible the red balloon bribe helped…) and never shed a tear.  And those dimples… seriously!!  Can you tell I had a hard time choosing just a few to share here?  I hope I get to share many more conversations with her as she grows up with her new, extremely kind and loving family.  Thank you for letting me in on such a special little piece of your life with your new daughter, and for the time, tears, love, and prayers you have and continue to pour into this precious one.

This is one of my favorite shots of one of my favorite families!!  If I remember right, my husband was actually the one who placed everyone in this photo — he is so good at that.  I should hire him.  I was up on a ladder to shoot, and I think I was making the dad in this photo very nervous!  But look at all those girls!   He is used to looking out for danger!  We did this photo shoot to get some family shots they could use for their church entry and for prayer cards as they are preparing to go out in the mission field this summer!  Such a loving, generous family — God is going to use them in amazing ways!!  You can learn more about them here:  www.actisfamily.com.

I have 2 boys.  A dear friend of mine who has 3 boys who are older than mine, was asked on her last trip to the grocery store if it was OK if they put her bagged groceries into 2 carts… This makes me afraid of my future grocery bills.  We are noticing the “boy funk” smell in the bedrooms, the airplane noises and nonsense songs seem to be getting louder and louder, and the pantry is emptying faster and faster…  The oldest of the 2 cannot keep a pair of jeans hole free for more than 3.5 months.  These are his shoes.  Also worn for about 3.5 months.  But what can I say?  The shoes make me smile.  Because my personality-filled, energetic boys are loving life.  And I love every minute right with them!

When I came home from our beautiful evening photo shoot and began to look at the images we were able to capture of this cute little sweet pea, this one immediately caught my eye and just made me giggle with delight!!  She wanted to do everything else except sit in the tiny chair, and at this point, it definitely seemed she was trying to hide behind it!  Could she be any more adorable??  And believe me, she shared so many more charming pieces of her personality that I will be posting soon!!

Never a dull moment with a three year old.  Especially when the three year old is a boy, right?  I’ve realized the look here on my son’s face is prevalent in about 80% of the photos I take of him… and yes, his mouth is wide open because he is making some kind of loud noise! ;-)   Our kids have always liked to bundle up with us on a Saturday morning in our bed, but now with them getting older, it seems it turns into a tickle fest or a throw-everyone-off-the-bed fest… but whatever it is, I think we will all treasure those snuggly memories!  These quilts that my kids are wrapped up in here also hold many memories — most of them are made by hand by my grandmother and some are quite old.  All the better to bundle up with :-) .

Lots of talented photographers are showing their bundled up moments at i heart faces, so please go take a look!

I do have to say that I love spring California sunshine.  This time of year back in my hometown is still very cold, and occasionally there is even still snow on the ground.  Standing outside in early spring when the sun is shining and the wind isn’t blowing and feeling that bright warmth hit your face is just yummy!!  It’s like a cup of coffee (or soothing hot tea in my case ;-) ) for the soul…

Everyone is jumping for joy at i heart faces this week!  This photo of my daughter and her friend just makes me all giggly inside everytime I look at it.  The expressions on their faces are true to their personalities… Fun and crazy gals!!  Wish I could still jump like that… I would definitely hurt something…
